Queensland households get the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount, which is the large one, and no state top-up on current programs. Queensland also sits in a better solar zone than the southern states, which is worth real money if you are adding panels at the same time.

Since 1 March 2026 the Clean Energy Regulator requires geotagged, timestamped photos of battery labelling and serial numbers on every STC claim, and uses automated checks to reject the ones that fall short. NSW installs move to the mandatory CER (Consumer Energy Resources) Installer Portal from mid-2026 with CSIP-AUS backstop-enabled inverters, and solar panels not certified to IEC 61730:2023 came off the approved list on 1 May. One rebate applies in QLD, with a solar zone advantage:

Queensland ran the Battery Booster rebate in 2024, offering means-tested amounts toward a battery. It was heavily oversubscribed and closed. In 2026 Queensland households access the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program only, and it applies here at exactly the same rate as everywhere else.
The federal discount is not something you apply for and wait on. Your installer applies it at the point of sale through a registered agent, so it comes off the invoice before you pay anything.
Where Queensland does better than the southern states is the solar side. Most of Queensland sits in STC zone 2 (rating 1.536), against zone 3 for Sydney and zone 4 for Melbourne. If you are adding panels alongside the battery, the same system earns more certificates here than it would down south.
Your network operator is Energex in the south east and Ergon Energy in regional Queensland. Your installer handles the connection notification. Queensland also applies export limits that can shape how a battery is configured, so raise it during the quote rather than after.
